Without further ado.... finally some house photos!!

(Everytime I go to upload these they seem to take forever then crash, so I am going to do them one or two at a time)

Ashley's Accident 05 November 2007

It's been awhile since I posted to my blob and today's entry is a doozy - here's Ashley's version of it, however I could add a whole lot more interesting bits to spice the story up - I am sure most of you could imagine what that would be...but I will leave it to Ashley

On Monday 5th of November I was at my Dad’s work and we went to the school playground. I tried to jump to the second bar on the monkey bars and fell on my hands instead. My left wrist bones had moved away from it’s normal spot and it looked freaky. My right hand had a greenstick fracture in the wrist as well. So I went to tell my Dad and then we went to the Werribee Hospital Emergency Room, where Mum met us. It was 12 o’clock.

I had x-rays at Werribee, and then they said that it would be best if I went to an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sunshine Hospital to get it back in the right place.

Before Mum drove me to the other hospital we went past our house, where Mum got my favourite toy Topsy and special blanket. At the Sunshine Hospital we checked in and after waiting for awhile we saw the Orthopaedic Surgeon – his name was Chris. Chris told Mum and I that I needed to have surgery to have my bones straightened. Ian took us up to the operating rooms and Mum and I were asked lots of questions. I had to keep telling everyone I fell off the monkey bars.

By 5 o’clock I was in the surgery suite getting “prepped” for surgery. After four very very sore attempts to get a needle in my veins the anaesthetic was put in and I went to sleep. Mum stayed until that point, then she left and waited outside. I don’t remember much except seeing Mum about 6 o’clock and asking her if it was done yet? She smiled and showed me that my two arms were in plaster.

While I was in the recovery room Mum showed my how fast my heart was beating on the monitor (108) and I also discovered that the last needle they put in my hand was now in my foot – so I ended up having five needle holes in my body – ouch!! You should see the bruises. The needle in my foot really hurt but I had to keep it in my foot until I went home the next day. This meant I had to use the wheelchair everywhere I went because I could not walk. So not only were both my arms in plaster – but I couldn’t walk either! Not fun at all! I was however, very happy to have had it over and done with because I was very nervous about having surgery.

Mum stayed with me while I rested and had dinner, and she went home when I was getting sleepy. In the morning, Mum and Kaitlyn came back around 8 o’clock. They brought me a beautiful bunch of flowers and card as well as these two really cool monkeys which I called “The Twins” named after the two Tiger Barb fish we have at home also called “The Twins”

After breakfast I had to have another x-ray (two x-rays for both hands, which meant four in total) before I was allowed to leave. Luckily they showed my bones were in alignment and I could go home. By 10 o’clock Mum, Kaitlyn and I were leaving the hospital.

Ashley and I are spending this week at home, as she is having trouble eating and drinking by herself, and at this stage cannot hold a pen in her right hand very strong - luckily it is heading towards the end of the year, and not alot of homework to be had!

Sorry sorry sorry

Hi All

Just a quick note to let you know that hopefully (fingers, toes and eyes crossed) that we will have our internet connection up and running today and I will be able to upload the photos of the house.

We have been in the house since 1st weekend in August, and we have only last week got our telephone line sorted, with promises of delivery of our internet / broadband connection today. If so I will spend tonight uploading more photos.

Hi All

Thought I was a little overdue in doing this, so please accept my apologies - but here are a couple of house pictures. To date (as is this afternoon) we now have a backyard sown with grass seed, a kitchen unit installed and the gibstopping almost completely done, however I have to upload those photos at a later stage. The front of the house still has the port-a-loo outside unfortunately, so I don't have any nice frontage photos, again hopefully soon I will be able to provide some of those. In the meantime, take care

Cute Unitforms

Ashley is in Year 3, Room 14 with her teacher Kate Hamill and Kaitlyn is in Grade 1, Room 15 with her teacher Raelee Hovey. Both classrooms are cool and colourful, and Kaitlyn's was a new one only built last year. The school is open and bright and breezy, and soon we will upload photos of us at school

Hi Guys

I have been meaning to do this since I arrived in Melbourne, but instead left it until the kids started school.

Because I was trying to upload a huge 4MB file to everyone's emails - and I am guessing most people won't want to open it (sorry) I have created a blog where we can keep everyone updated with our lives in Melbourne.

To this end I have attached the photos of the girls on their first day at school - Jamieson Way, Carranballac College - I think they look good enough to eat, but then I always have.
